About the Portraits 

How does it work? 

You upload one or more photos, pick your favorite one based on our live preview and complete your order. We generate your portrait using our AI-powered art process, review it for quality, and either deliver your digital file by email or send your canvas print to your door — depending on what option you selected. 

 

What makes a good photo to upload?

The better the photo, the better the portrait. For best results use a photo that is: 

  • Clear and in focus 

  • Well lit — natural light works best 

  • Showing the subject's face or full body clearly 

  • Taken straight-on or at a slight angle rather than from above or below 

Avoid heavily filtered photos, very dark images, or photos where the subject is partially obscured. The more clearly we can see your subject, the more detail your portrait will capture. You can use our cropping tool to isolate your subject. It is not necessary to fit them in the whole frame. Their facial details are what's most important.

 

Can I upload a photo of more than one person or pet?

 Yes — you can upload up to five photos, instantly compare results, and pick from your favorite one.

 

Will the portrait look like my pet or person?

Yes. Our process is designed to preserve the likeness, features, and personality of your subject — not just the general breed or hair colour. The specific details that make your loved one yours, are what we're working to capture.  


Orders & Delivery 

How long does it take? 

Most customers receive their canvas within one weeks of ordering. Here's the breakdown: 

  • Portrait processing: 2 to 5 business days 

  • Shipping: 1 to 8 business days 

Digital files are delivered by email as soon as your portrait is ready — typically within 10 minutes. 

 

Do I get a preview before it's printed? 

Our product pages include a live preview tool so you can see a slightly lower quality version of your portrait before you complete your order. Final results may vary slightly from the preview based on your specific photo. 

 

Will I receive a digital file as well as a canvas? 

Every canvas order comes with a digital version of your portrait. Digital files can also be purchased separately, without a physical print.

 

Can I order as a gift and ship directly to the recipient? 

Absolutely. Simply enter the recipient's address as the shipping address at checkout. We don't include any pricing information inside the package. 

 

Do you ship outside Canada and the United States? 

Not yet — but international shipping is coming soon. Sign up for our email list to be notified when we expand. 

 

Returns & Quality 

What if I'm not happy with how it turned out? 

We want every portrait to exceed your expectations. If something looks off, send us an email with a photo of the issue — we'll review it and do our best to find a solution. 

 

What if my canvas arrives damaged?

 Email us at support@artandawe.com within 14 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the damage. We'll arrange a replacement or store credit once the return is confirmed. Please note that return shipping costs are the customer's responsibility. 

 

Can I get a refund on a digital file? 

Digital portrait files are non-refundable once delivered. As custom-created products, we're unable to offer refunds on digital orders — but if there's a genuine quality issue, reach out and we'll work with you. 

 

The Process 

Is this really AI-generated? 

Yes — and we're proud of it. We use AI the way a skilled craftsperson uses good tools: to do something that would otherwise take months, in a fraction of the time, without sacrificing quality. The artistry is in the process, the prompting, the quality review, and the care we put into every order before it reaches you. 

 

Do you store my photos? 

Your photos are used solely to generate your portrait. We do not sell, share, use or keep your images for any purpose beyond fulfilling your order. 

 

Can I use my portrait commercially? 

Portraits from Art & Awe are licensed for personal use only. If you have a specific commercial use in mind, reach out to us at support@artandawe.com to discuss licensing options. 

 

Do you offer custom requests not listed on the site? 

We're occasionally able to accommodate special requests outside our standard catalog. Email us at support@artandawe.com with what you have in mind and we'll let you know if it's something we can create.
